Hello tour lovers! After the first part of my Meghalaya tour experience, today I am here to share with you the second part of my Meghalaya tour experience. In previous I told you 4 places of Meghalaya which is a must to go. And today I will give you some idea of some more places which you can explore.
Meghalaya is the Scotland of the East. If you are from the United States or Europe, you may always think to visit the Europe. May be Switzerland, Italy or Scotland. But trust me Meghalaya is a state of India which beauty will amaze you. It will touch your heart with the pure feeling of nature. Let’s not waste your precious time.
1. Noh Sngi Thiang: More than 300 meters, Noh Sngi Thiang is one of the most impressive waterfalls you will see anywhere in the south India. It is segmented into seven parts and that’s why it is also called Seven Sisters Falls. It is located in Sohra (Cherrapunjee) and 56 Km from Shillong. In monsoon when the fall is full of water it is like a heaven in the Earth. The sound of water falling will reach at your heart and fill your mind with great relaxation. You can spend your whole day by watching the water and sky. And if your beloved one is with you, trust me you will forget the whole world. But one thing you should remember, at this height the cloud can cover the whole sky anytime.
2. Noh Ka Likai Falls: This is slightly more than a Km from Seven Sisters Falls located in East Khasi hills Sohra. Since you have already visited Seven Sisters Falls, Noh Ka Likai should not be missed. A straight plunge of over 1000 feet gives Noh Ka Likai superlative status amongst waterfalls in India. You can go very close to this water fall and feel like something out of a medieval fantasy novel. Take a cup of hot coffee and just see through the dense forests that will take you to the bottom of the falls. Always try to take a local guide that will help you a lot. But if you are a solo traveler, make sure you have taken Meghalaya tour guide book in you backpack.
3. Umiam Lake: This calm and charming lake is located in Guwahati-Shillong route and 21 Km from Shillong. The lake was formed when a dam was built over the Umiam River in the early sixties as part of a hydel power project. Umiam Lake has become a favorite spot for many who come to admire the landscape. Paddle boats, water scooters, and speed boats are some of the plentiful options for those who look to hit the waters. You can keep this in your tour plan and enjoy the afternoon boating with you precious one. The sunset view at the lake will remove all your pain and calm your body.
4. Phe Phe Falls: Phe Phe Falls is a two-tier waterfall located in Shkentalang Village near Jarain in West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. It is in the Jowai-Dawki Road and 80 Km from Shillong. Phe Phe means Paradise in Jaintia. After a long journey through the green hills you will reach to the Paradise Adventure Camp. Then you have to cross a tiny river by boat. And then you have to trek for about 20 minutes toward the waterfalls. The location of the waterfall makes it more thrilling and adventurous. Two waterfalls, one beneath another in a distant deserted area and only the sound of water, this is unimaginably beautiful. But one thing keep in mind, if you have kids, you should have extra precaution.
5. Krangsuri: Compared to the other waterfalls Krangsuri has something different. A placid river suddenly drops, creating a curtain of flowing water that falls over a cave. Krangsuri waterfalls located in West Jaintia Hills and 91 Km from Shillong. The nearest town is Amlarem where you can find small village market. The walk down to Krangsuri is quiet pleasant. Since this place is watery and slippery make sure you wear your footwear with good grip. If you are confused what type of sandal you need I may help you. For boys this type of sandal might be good choice. And this is for girls to wear in waterfalls.
